The influence of CaF2 content in LF slag on desulfurization
When the CaF2 content in slag is less than 9%, with the increase of CaF2 content, desulfurization degree goes up. When the CaF2 content in slag is between 9% and 10%, desulfurization degree reaches a maximum. When the CaF2 content in slag is more than 10%, with the increase of CaF2 content, desulfurization degree goes down, this is from the perspective of thermodynamics. From the perspective of molecular theory, the desulfurization reaction of slag is: CaO2+[S]=(CaS)+[O], with the process of desulfurization reaction, solid CaS will be formed at the slag level, which will stop desulfurization reaction and makes liquid phase quantity decrease. CaF2 is good for the destruction of solid CaS, which increases liquid phase quantity and improves desulfurization condition, but when the content of CaF2 is enough to stop solid CaS from forming, more CaF2 will make the CaO in slag diluted, which will decrease the effective concentration of CaO and bad for desulfurization. ...
