What is clean steel continuous casting

The production of high-quality continuous casting slabs requires that the content of inclusions in molten steel be controlled within the specified range. In the process of steelmaking-refining-continuous casting, steelmaking and refining are the basis for ensuring the cleanliness of molten steel. Compared with die casting, due to the special conditions of continuous casting, it is more difficult to obtain clean slabs with extremely low inclusion content from clean molten steel after steelmaking and refining. How to ensure the cleanliness of molten steel and obtain clean billets is the clean steel continuous casting technology. The technological measures related to clean steel continuous casting are:

(1) Pouring without oxidation protection: The casting time of continuous casting is long, and the area of molten steel exposed to the air is large, which greatly increases the possibility of secondary oxidation of molten steel. The non-oxidative protection pouring technology includes five aspects.

 

①The protection of molten steel in the large ladle;

②The protection of the molten steel from the large ladle to the tundish;

③The protection of the molten steel in the tundish;

④The protection of the molten steel from the tundish to the mold;

⑤The protection of the molten steel in the mold. Among them, the protection of molten steel in the ladle, the tundish and the crystallizer adopts the molten steel covering agent and the mould slag respectively. The steel flow is protected by immersion nozzles.

(2)Inclusion separation technology in the tundish: various forms of slag retaining walls and dams are installed in the tundish, and filters are installed to separate and filter the inclusions.
