Oxidation of ladle slag line brick
The oxidation of ladle slag line brick is mainly carbon oxidation,
including gas phase oxidation, liquid phase oxidation, indirect
oxidation and the influence of porosity.
Gas phase oxidation refers to the direct oxidation of carbon, which
occurs when graphite coexists with air (O2), water vapor (H2O) and
carbonic acid at high temperature.
Liquid phase oxidation refers to the oxidation of carbon caused by
iron and manganese oxides in the slag. Generally, with the increase of
total iron content in the slag, the damage rate of magnesia carbon furnace
lining brick will increase. In this process, with the formation of
decarburization layer on the surface of carbon containing products, the
slag is easy to penetrate and react, resulting in the loose structure of
lining brick and accelerating the damage of products.
Indirect oxidation is the reaction between MgO and carbon at high
temperature to form decarburized layer, which leads to the deterioration
of the structure of MgO-C brick.
The most serious damage is the continuous erosion of slag to the
decarburized layer, which forms a reaction layer with magnesia to form
low melting substance, and finally causes the melting and erosion of ladle MgO-C brick.
How to improve the damage of the slag line?
1. Optimize the refining system and improve the smelting conditions.2. Use better refractory materials.
3. Change the masonry technology and optimize the brick design.
4. Control the argon blowing and power-on system.
5. Strengthen ladle operation control and red envelope turnover.
6. Add anti-oxidation coating to the inner lining of the ladle.
