The different types of refractory castables

 Refractory castables are usually classified according to the size of porosity, selected binder or bonding method, aggregate type and construction method.
According to the porosity, it can be divided into dense refractory castables and insulating refractory castables.
According to cementing methods, refractory castables can be divided into four types: hydration bonded castables, chemical bonded castables (including polymerization bonded castables), hydration and polymerization bonded castables (typically low cement bonded castables) and condensation bonded castables.

According to the special functions of binders and some materials, they can be classified into the following seven categories:

(1) clay bonded refractory castable;
(2) superfine powder (such as silica fume, etc.) combined with refractory castable;
(3) Cement bonded refractory castable;
(4) chemically bonded refractory castable;
(5) ρ-ALO (hydrated ALO) combined refractory castable;
(6) Low cement bonded refractory castable;
(7) Silica and aluminum sol (sol-gel) combined refractory castable.
According to the combination of raw materials, refractory castables can be divided into oxide refractory castables, non-oxide refractory castables and composite refractory castables. Oxide refractory castables can be subdivided into non-alkaline refractory castables and alkaline refractory castables.
According to the construction methods, refractory castables (bodies) can be divided into two categories: vibration construction refractory castables and gravity flow refractory castables.
According to whether the refractory castables contain cement or CaO content, they can be divided into four categories: ordinary refractory castables, low cement refractory castables, ultra-low cement refractory castables and cement-free refractory castables.

Divided into different dimensions, the types of refractory castables are different, and the applicable industrial kiln environment is also different, such as aluminum-magnesium castables for ladle, aluminum-silicon carbide-carbon castables for blast furnace tapholes, castables can be used in a wide range, according to For industrial kiln environment, select refractory castable of suitable material.
