How can you tell the quality of steel scrape?

1.Not too rusty. If the steel scrape is too rusty, it will cause more slag, which is bad for furnace lining and production capacity;

2.Not too dusty. If there is too much dust on the steel scrape or at the steel scrape site, more slag will be caused too, the scrape site is better to be clean.

3.Not too big. Higher temperature and longer time will be needed for melting if the steel scrape is too big, it’s better to cut the big steel scrape into small pieces;

4.Not too much carbon. If the steel scrape is with high carbon content, decaburization will be needed, which will increase cost and affect the service life of furnace lining.
